Questions

The app

What is Croze?

A cocktail app built on pairs. Every drink in the catalogue comes with a second drink and one line on why: a Negroni and a White Negroni, the same argument made in a different colour. The catalogue is written by us and grouped into six families, Old Fashioned, Martini, Daiquiri, Sidecar, Highball and Flip, so the drink you like leads to the next one.

How do I get in?

Croze is in development, and the first builds go out through TestFlight, Apple’s app for testing builds before release. Ask for an invite and we will send a TestFlight link to the address you write from. You will need an iPhone.

How do I sign in?

With an email address and a password, or with Google. With email, we send a six-digit code to confirm the address the first time, and another if you forget your password.

The app asks once whether you are 21 or older, before sign-in. Croze is for people of legal drinking age.

Pairs

What is the reveal?

On a drink’s page, turn on the light. A violet beam crosses the screen and the drink’s pair comes up in its place, with the reason under it. Nothing is locked or hidden; the light just chooses the moment. Below it are pairings other people have made for the same drink.

Can I make my own pairings?

Yes. From a drink, choose its pair and, if you like, write one line on why. The line is what makes a pairing worth reading, so we suggest you write one. A pairing is visible to others when both of its drinks are.

Specs and lists

What is a spec?

Your own recipe. Add one from Drinks or from your profile: a name, its family and glass, the ingredients and amounts, the method, a garnish and a few words about it. If it uses something you make yourself, a syrup or an infusion, add it as a specialty ingredient with its own recipe. You can edit or delete a spec at any time.

What are lists for?

Whatever you keep: a fall menu, five daiquiris worth knowing, what to make on Saturday. Add any drink or spec with Add to your lists on its page. A list can carry its own pairings, one per drink, chosen by you.

What is public, and what is private?

Each spec, list and specialty ingredient has a setting. Public is the default: it appears on your profile, in feeds and search, and on its own page at croze.app that anyone can open. Link only keeps it off your profile, feeds and search, but anyone with its link can open it. Private is for you alone.

Your name, handle, bio, whom you follow and who follows you are always public. Your reviews, pairings and likes are public wherever the drinks they concern are. Your email address, notifications and the people you block are never shown to anyone.

People

How do I report or block someone?

Open their profile, tap the menu at the top right, and choose Report, then a reason, or Block. Blocking removes the follow in both directions and keeps them out of your feed and search; you can undo it from Settings → Blocked.

To report a particular drink, list or review, email us with a link to it or its name and the person’s handle, and we will look at it.

Your account

How do I delete my account?

You → Settings → Delete account. It happens immediately and cannot be undone. Your profile, specs, specialty ingredients, lists, pairings, reviews, likes and follows are removed, and your public pages on croze.app go with them within a few minutes.

If you cannot open the app, email us from the address on the account and we will delete it for you.

What do you collect?

Your email address, your profile and what you make in the app. No location, contacts, photos or advertising identifiers, no ads, no analytics. The privacy policy has the whole list.
